Indoor cycling at home: your bike and screen checklist

By DirtyRide

A home cycling setup has two parts: the bike you use and the screen that plays the class. Before looking for more equipment, check what your existing setup can do. This guide covers access and playback, not an exercise plan or bike fitting advice.

Start with the bike you already have

DirtyRide’s planned classes are intended for a stationary bike with resistance you control yourself. The platform does not pair with your bike or require a power meter, cadence sensor or heart-rate monitor. Consult your bike’s own instructions for setup, permitted use and adjustments.

A number on one bike’s resistance dial may not match the same number on another model. A video playing on screen does not measure your effort, resistance or movement. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing class platforms.

Make the screen easy to use

Choose a phone, tablet or computer that can stay securely supported where you can see it. Check that the bike’s moving parts and the route on and off it are clear of cables. Try the screen position before starting playback, so you do not need to hold a device while riding.

Open the class page in your browser. Check the sound, play and pause controls and whether the video remains visible at your chosen screen size. DirtyRide does not currently offer a dedicated TV app or a built-in casting control; using another display depends on your device and browser.

Check playback before planning a session

Use a connection that can play the video consistently. Test sound at a comfortable level and find the pause control before you need it. Downloading classes for offline playback is not a current DirtyRide feature.

A class page marked in production has no finished workout to play. You can register interest without creating an account, but there is no confirmed release date or automatic notification. Only a published class with its video available can be played.

Know what progress means

When a class is available, public playback does not require registration. Progress can stay in that browser; clearing browser data can remove it. Optional sign-in is intended for saving progress to an account.

The progress indicator records video playback. It does not verify that you rode along, calculate measured calories or certify exercise completion. Choose equipment and instruction appropriate to you, and use the next guide to compare class descriptions before choosing a ride.
